Everytime I get started on a new home project, I begin with browsing through magazines and searching online for inspiration (which in most cases, is the best part). I look at all the beautiful rooms and often find myself wondering what amazing things I could do if only I had a million dollars…Ahhh…I could do anything I wanted!! How great would it be to have enough money to FINALLY finish all the projects we’ve started- to finally have a completed home renovation!
But, as I began to ponder the possibilities, I realized that what really makes me happy is the effort behind it all. While, yes, having a million dollars would allow me to buy all the things I want for my home, I’d feel no real sense of accomplishment.
I work hard in life (and so does my fiance) so that we can do/enjoy all the little things that make us happy. So, I remind myself that someday, maybe not next year or 5 years from now, I’m going to look back at these moments…like the moment when we couldn’t stop laughing when the dog leaned against a freshly painted wall, or the moment when we made 20 trips to the hardware store in one day because we kept forgetting things…and I’ll see that while I longed for all of the projects to end, what I really wished for was for them to continue on- possibly forever!
